I joined the RAF in July 2002 and in October 2003 I was detached on Optelic 2 as support out to Akrotiri Cyprus. I worked in accommodation cell sorting rooms for deployed troops going out to or on route back from Iraq. I then served in Northern Ireland on Operation Op Banner.  Life in the forces you learn to relie on each other and support each other in anyway possible. You become a family. I left in 2011 after my 9 years service due to medical grounds. My 9 years in the RAF was full of ups and downs but one of the best things I ever did.
